This blog is basically just a collection of my "random thoughts". I must warn you, though. I have been told that "I write like I talk", so if you don't understand what you are reading... chances are, if you met me... I wouldn't make much sense to you! Feel free to comment if you care to. Or not. I'm good either way!

A "Beachy" Tablescape

I love the "Beachy" look! I would love, love, love, to have a house... or even a condo!... at the beach! Of course, I would love for it to be right ON the beach! But, I would settle for one that was merely near the beach, as well! **Smile**

I would have SO MUCH FUN decorating it!

I knew that for my June tablescape, I wanted to do a BEACH THEMED one.

Here is what I came up with! -- Once again... please excuse my photography skills!

Don't you love this turquoise beaded bowl thingy to the left?? I am not quite sure where I got it. I have had it for a while. I know that I did not pay a lot for it. Maybe $3.00? I am extremely attracted to all glassware in this color!

I bought the little tealight candles at the dollar store back in February when I was searching for valentine things. I bought two sets of 3 for $1.00 each!

Do you see the seashell salt & pepper shakers?? Those are part of David's grandmother's collection that I have stored up in my attic! I have boxes and boxes of salt & pepper shakers! I guess you would say that these were "vintage".

These light blue placemats are the same ones that I used for my "winter theme" back in January. I picked them up at Bed, Bath & Beyond for $1.00 each on the clearance shelf!

The white plates are the same ones that I bought last fall at the dollar store! I use them all the time!

I found these blue-striped napkins on a recent "thrifting" outing that I had last Saturday. They were only $1.00 for a set of 6!

The white knobby bowls are the same ones that I bought back in February. I think I paid $2.00 each for 6 of them at Michael's.

I found these beautiful blue bowls while out "thrifting" on Saturday. I LOVE the colors! There are only 4, but they were only $1.00 each!

I was excited to find these fun mini-chargers while out "thrifting"! I had to have them for my "beach theme"! They were only $4.00 for a set of 6!

I picked up this cute little fishy at Hobby Lobby. He was only $4.00, but I paid less because he was 40% off!

I found this pink flamingo at Hobby Lobby, too! He was only $6.00 with 40% off!

Don't you love these candlesticks??!! I found these at the thrift store for only $3.00 each!! I just HAD to have them!! I bought the candles at Hobby Lobby. They were $6.00 each, but were on sale for 60% off!

These cute little fishies are another set of salt & pepper shakers from David's grandmother's collection! They are so precious! They make me smile every time I look at them! I would say that these were "vintage", as well.

The aqua colored votive candle in the foreground is another dollar store find!

This display is on my hutch, which is right next to my table.

The little green fishies on the left are more salt & pepper shakers! Too cute!

The shells in the big vase are just part of the collection of shells that the girls and I found while we were at St. Joseph's Peninsula State Park in Florida last September! I have been waiting to use them as part of my "beachy" decor!

I found this adorable flip-flop dish while out "thrifting"! I love the colors! It was only $3.00.

Hope you like my "thrifty" finds!

Joey's

While we were camping over the weekend, my friend told me about a fairly new Thrift Market that is in downtown Columbus. It is called Joey's. My friend has another friend that has a booth there and is making a good little paycheck at the end of the month just by selling what she and others, no longer want!

So, on Monday (before I got sick!), I decided to use up a little gas and drive down there. It is in an old warehouse and there are LOTS of booths to wonder through! I even got a little lost as I tried to not miss any!

I was not sure what to expect... whether it would be mostly antiques, mostly "yard sale" type stuff, or just plain JUNK! It ended up being a big mixture of a little bit of everything, which was ok. I didn't really have any money to spend, but knew that I could spend a little if I found something that I just HAD to have.

I love dishes, glassware and antique furniture. So, those were the things that I mainly looked at. I kinda' skipped over the booths with toys, baby stuff, clothes & "junk". I also love books, but didn't spend the time looking through the many that I saw. Maybe next time.

I took a few photos of some things that I liked and thought I would share them with you.

I thought these dishes would be cute for summer! I wanted to buy them, but they had a price tag of $3.95 for EACH plate! I thought that was just a little high.

This was my favorite booth and I LOVED this white cabinet!! It was a reasonable $120. I think it would look wonderful in a bathroom or a kitchen. I don't have the room for it in either one of mine. I would love to make room for it in my office, tho!

I would REALLY love to redo my master bedroom. I would love to replace my big, ugly, triple dresser for something like this antique one!! It was a reasonable price of $142!! It's not as big as the one that I have, but this one has two deep drawers. Most of my clothes are in my closet, anyway.

I would also love to replace my very outdated headboard (no footboard) with a beautiful iron bed! This one was pretty, but was only a queen - I have a king sized bed, right now - and it isn't exactly the style that I like. The price was VERY good, tho! It was $475 and included a not so pretty dresser that did not match at all! (I should have taken a picture of it, too!)

This IS a very pretty bed!

I'm looking for something more like these below. I grabbed the photos online.

I look foward to going back and looking around a bit more! I better save my pennies!! **Smile**

I Love Dishes & Glassware

I have always been attracted to beautiful dishes and glassware, and.... becoming a "Blogger" has only increased my love for them! I have been finding myself searching for blogs that contain tablescapes so that I can get ideas for my own, and.... because I just LOVE looking at and admiring them!

Take a look at these absolutely beautiful tablescapes, containing some gorgeous pieces of glassware, dishes, flatware, linens, & centerpieces ----

The above tablescape can be found at The Little Round Table, one of my favorite blogs to drool over "look" at! Click on the link and you can see more of this tablescape and MANY others! I love her inspiration for this particular one!

Take a look at this breakfast tray. So pretty!! The blue & white reminds me of my mother. She loved blue & white dishes.

You can view more of this beautiful collection over at The Tablescaper.

If you are one of my regular "followers", then you know that I have been experimenting with my own tablescapes. I started back in the Fall with this one --

You can see more of this post HERE. When I took these photos, my tablescape was not completed, but you get the idea!

Here's my Christmas one --

You can view more of this one by clicking HERE.

So, now it is January and I am struggling with my idea for this month's tablescape theme. I want a WINTER look. My idea was to use cobolt blue & white. (The colors of the breakfast tray pieces, above.) I also wanted to use snowmen and snowflakes in my "scape".

Tomorrow, I will take pictures of what I have done so far and show them to you. I will also find and show you pictures of what I would LIKE to do!

Meanwhile.... Happy Thursday to you!! I'm thankful that it is "my" Friday! **Smile**

Fall Tablescape Finds!

I've been enjoying reading and looking at the fun tablescapes over at betweennapsontheporch!! Her ideas are so inspiring!! I love fall so much that I have been on the hunt the past few days for some Fall "bargains" for my own "Fall Tablescape".

Take a look at what I found today at Walmart and at the Dollar Tree!!

I got these BEAUTIFUL leaf plates from Walmart, on clearance, for only $2.00 each! I have been wanting some white plates so that they will go with any of my tablescapes that I create. I found these at the Dollar Tree for, of course... $1.00 each!

Take a look at this beautiful charger!! I found these at Walmart for only $2.00, too!

Don't look too close at my wrinkled napkin! I was too anxious to see how it all looked and didn't worry about ironing just one!

I bought six.

I put my collection of roosters on the table, along with a candle and the cookie jar that my mother painted many years ago.

I found this big rooster in Blue Ridge, way up in the mountains of North Georgia. He usually sits up on top of my kitchen cabinets. I am not sure where I picked up these other two roosters. I really like the black and white one, tho! The white hen and rooster were my grandmother's.

I bought the box of leaves, berries and fruit at Walmart for only $3.00! I may go back to the Dollar Tree and look for a pretty glass bowl for them to go in. I have a fall basket, but I think they would be prettier in a bowl. As you can see, my candle sprung a leak!! Ya. That was a fun night, when it started dripping on my coffee table! YIKES!

Next, I pulled out my grandmother's "Rooster Dishes", as I call them. Look how pretty they go with the leaf dish and the charger!!

I just love these chargers!!

I love my grandmother's rooster dishes, too.

I love my rooster, too!

I think I am on my way to having a beautiful Fall Tablescape. What do you think?
