This blog is basically just a collection of my "random thoughts". I must warn you, though. I have been told that "I write like I talk", so if you don't understand what you are reading... chances are, if you met me... I wouldn't make much sense to you! Feel free to comment if you care to. Or not. I'm good either way!

A to Z Blog Challenge - Round 2 - Letter C

See the source imageToday's word is ... Calendar

First... here is the link to my post back in 2010 - Click HERE

I like the way I looked in the first photo! I can tell that I was a lot thinner. Wish I could be thinner again. Siiiggghhh....

Anyway..... I have a "thing" for Calendars. Whether it be... wall calendars. Desk calendars. Planners with calendars. Pocket size calendars. You name the type and I'll most likely have one! Well... actually.. I'll have one of EACH!!! LOL

Right now, I have the following...

- a wall calendar in my kitchen. I got it for a Christmas gift last year from my youngest daughter. She made it online and it has family pics for each month. I love it!

- a desk pad calendar. It is one of Susan Branch's OH-SO-CUTE! designs. I love it!

- a BIG daily agenda planner with monthly calendars. I don't use this one like I should. I will write out my agenda (if I have one) for the day and 9 times out of 10... I won't even look at it during the day! But... I love it!

- a pocket sized calendar for my purse. I haven't been using this one as much this year because I haven't had as many doctor's appointments and other "appointments" as I was having. I'm sure the main reason that I'm not using it as much as I am at home more now than I used to be. -- Thanks, Covid-19!! 😠

I feel like I'm forgetting one. But.. that's all I can think of.

Calendars have always been a love of mine. I keep a lot of my calendars and agenda books because they usually have so much information written on them. They are kinda' like a journal in their own way.

One of my favorite calendars that I have is one from my teenage years. I think it's from 1981! I dated several different boys that year. ( I was like.. 16 years old!) I colored coded each boy because I I kinda' saw dated more than one at a time. (oops!)

I don't remember what color each boy was... but, I can remember which boys were on there! - Timmy, Mark & David. And... maybe... Jimmy & Darryl. I can't remember for sure. LOL! That was a fun year. 😁

Hallelujah Girls

Yesterday, I got the chance to go to a play that was directed by a classmate and friend, Cathe Hall Payne, that I went to high school with. It was so much fun! The play was called -- The Hallelujah Girls (click the link to check it out and read about it!) and it was wonderful!

In high school, Cathe was into drama BIG TIME! I don't vividly remember all the plays that were done during my high school years, but... those that I do remember... Cathe always had the LEAD role and was always VERY GOOD! And if I remember correctly, she had an amazing singing voice, as well.

My friend, Denise, sent out an invite through Facebook to those of us that might want to go. I was immediately excited about the idea of going! I didn't even know that Cathe was still involved in the "theatre world"! But... really... it makes sense that she is! I hadn't seen Cathe or some of the other girls sense high school, so I was excited about that, as well.

We met for lunch first, which was fun. Denise brought her mom and so did another girl. The "moms" were delightful and it made me just a wee bit jealous that these girls have such "active" and "healthy" moms... something that I haven't had in a long time and never will.

The play was to start at 3:00pm and we made it JUST IN TIME! The theatre was PACKED with people, so we had to sit in the back.

We had just a few minutes before the play started, so some of the girls took the opportunity to hit up the potty. This is when I learned that the teacher that taught drama (and English) when WE were in high school was IN THE PLAY that we were about to see!! Her name at the time -- and the only name that I knew her by -- was Ms. Janiec. I never took drama. I was too shy. But, I did have her for English. I didn't like her. I always thought she was mean! Haahaa! I was excited to see her, none-the-less!!

I still remember her because I was sitting in HER CLASS when President Reagan was shot!! For those of you that are interested... this happened on March 30, 1981. I was in the 11th grade. **Sigh**

Here are a few photos that I took during the play. They aren't the best because I had to hold my camera UP over my head so that I could get some clear shots (remember... we were on the back row!).

Here's Ms. Janiec, who I now know as.... Sylvia Veith.

The costumes were very entertaining, as well!

After the play was over, Cathe invited the WHOLE AUDIENCE to a FEAST of yummy treats in the lobby. I wish I could have gotten pictures of it all, but there were SO MANY people and the room was small.

I did manage to get a few photos of some of the beautiful Christmas trees that surrounded the room. The pictures don't do them justice, unfortunately.

I would have never thought of PINK for a Christmas color,
but I really liked these little beauties!

This one was my favorite! I loved the Raggedy Ann & Andy
and also the candy canes!

This little guy caught my attention, sitting over in the corner.
He was so cute! I wanted to take him home!

Next, it was photo-opp time with "Ms. Janiec".
She was soooo sweet!! (Not mean, at all!) **Smile**

In case you couldn't tell.... I'm in the black and purple. I'm not sure how I ended up in the front! I guess I have "shortness" to blame for that! hahaa

One Year Ago

WOW! How time flies by!! Last year, on Memorial Day weekend, my "baby" (Dtr. #2) graduated from HS. It was a hectic (but fun!) weekend, tho! Her high school usually does their graduations outside, on the football field. No such luck last year! For the first time in MANY years, they had to do the ceremony in the gym because of rain. The kids were not happy, nor where the faculty members, parents or other guests.
It was crowded in there and only 4 family members could attend because of space. That left MANY unhappy family members (some who traveled great distances to be there!) stuck watching the ceremony from the lunch room, the audiotoruim, and various class rooms.

"Our" seats weren't good, but they weren't bad, either. By the time that we got into the gym, the best seats were taken. I was thankful that we didn't have any other guests. I would have been upset that they couldn't sit with us.

The poor kids were SO TIRED! They had practiced both outside and inside for days before, and just wanted this thing over with! The ceremony went very well despite the last minute changes.

After Graduation, we had a BIG party planned for Dtr. #2!! We went in together with her best friend's parents and rented a HUGE blow-up slide and invited everyone we knew to come slide, swim, eat hamburgers, hot dogs & cake.
We ALL had a blast!! It even rained, which didn't keep the kids (or us adults!!) from sliding!! I can't remember the last time I had SO MUCH FUN!!

Here it is, Memorial Day weekend... again. But, one thing is different --- I have NO PLANS AT ALL!!! I guess I should be thankful that it is not a busy & hectic weekend. I also guess that I should really use this weekend to focus on the real reason for it.

I know that Memorial Day is a day that was set aside to remember all of the men & women who died while serving in one of our country's armed forces. I didn't know anyone personally, but I know that many, many did lose thier lives so that I could live free. To them, and to all those who still serve and protect us.... THANK YOU!!
