This blog is basically just a collection of my "random thoughts". I must warn you, though. I have been told that "I write like I talk", so if you don't understand what you are reading... chances are, if you met me... I wouldn't make much sense to you! Feel free to comment if you care to. Or not. I'm good either way!

So Much Going On!

My goodness!! In just a few days time.... SO MUCH has happened!!

Wednesday - 4/27 - was the horrific tornado outbreak! So many lives were literally turned upside down during this awful disaster. I learned yesterday that a friend from church's daughter survived by hiding in the basement of her boyfriend's parents home. This was in a suburb of Birmingham, Alabama. The tornado narrowly missed the house that they were in. I cried when I heard this. My friend was in Boston at the time, and did not get the text message that her daughter had sent from the basement, just before the tornado struck.... asking for prayers. My friend praises God that she did NOT get this text message until after the tornado blasted through! I understand her feelings. I can't imagine getting a text message like that and knowing that my daughter was hundreds of miles away and there was nothing that I could do to save her except.... to pray.

Friday - 4/29 - was the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton! What a glorious wedding it was! My girls were up at 4am to watch it. I decided that I would DVR it and just wake up whenever my body decided to. Well.... I was up by 5am! Ha!! I hadn't really missed anything, so that was good. The wedding was so magical and fairytale-like!! I loved everything about it!! Kate was beautiful, as usual. Of course.... she could wear a paper sack and still be beautiful!! Prince William was very handsome, as always. I love Prince Harry! He makes me laugh! Kate's sister, Pipa, was gorgeous in her dress, as well!! And, how wonderful for them that it didn't rain! I look forward to hearing more about them as they start their married life, together.

Sunday evening - 5/1 - As my girls and I were watching the TV reality show, "The Celebrity Apprentice"... we learned that President Obama was going to be interrupting our show to give an announcement that was of National Security. This peaked our interest and we waited a long hour until he finally spoke. We learned before he spoke that U.S. military troops had shot and killed Osama Bin Laden!! THANK GOD! It took almost 10 years for our troops to find him, but that is ok. He is now gone. My only worry is that his followers will now find a way to retaliate against us. I love seeing how the people of our nation are celebrating! Last night... my Facebook wall was COVERED in excitement with the news of his death!!! People also gathered on the lawn of our Nation's Capital and at Ground Zero in New York. It is wonderful when we can come together, as a country.

Weather

Right now the WEATHER is on my mind! We are at risk of tornadoes this evening and tonight and I am TERRIFIED of tornadoes!! I like thunderstorms, but NOT tornadoes! I get this from my mother who was always afraid of them. Because of her... I am a "weather watcher". She was this way and I guess I have taken on this trait from her. Before my mother had her stroke and "knew what was going on in the world"... she would always call me and say... "Have you heard about the weather?" It used to aggravate me, but now I understand why she did this. I get nervous when there is bad weather about and my family is scattered all over town! This morning, I made sure that I knew what my girls schedules were and what time that they would be home. I told them to "be aware of the weather" and "keep in touch if you are going to be late". **Smile**

Windows

The thought of the weather brings me to thought of "windows". I HAVE to be able to see out!! I do not like being in rooms that do not have windows for very long. This is ESPECIALLY true if bad weather is coming or already here!

Wedding

This word came to my mind because of the upcoming Royal Wedding this week! Yes. We Americans (at least some of us!) are fascinated with royalty and the happenings with the Royal Family of Great Britain. For me... It is like they live the "fairytale" life that all little girls dream of! I was in high school when Princess Diana married Prince Charles. I remember thinking how "fairytale-like-ish" their wedding was and how in awe I was of her! I am wondering if I will have the same feelings when Miss Kate Middleton marries her Prince Charming - Prince William. I can't wait to see her dress! Here, where I live, the TV stations will start their coverage of the wedding at 4:00am!!! No.... I will not be getting up then to watch! I plan to DVR it, tho!! **Smile**

Weight

This is a word that dislike very much because I have struggled with my weight all of my adult life! I want so very badly to be thin! It just doesn't seem that I am supposed to be.

Water

I like to drink water, but I know that I don't drink enough of it. I get bored with it and want something with flavor! I really DO need to drink more of it, tho. Also... when I think of water... I think of bodies of water, such as the ocean or a lake, river, or swimming pool. I grew up living in apartments and we always had a swimming pool. From the time I was 3 years old until 12 years old... I had a swimming pool right outside my back door! It was great! I did go to the beach with my parents in the summer. We would go with my aunt, uncle & cousin who lived in Florida. We would mostly go to Clearwater Beach. I always liked the ocean, but never went too far out in it.This is still true today. Although.. I really only like it if the water is clear! I was never around lakes or rivers much as a child. As a teenager and young adult, I was more. As I have gotten older.... I really do NOT like rivers & lakes! I do not like them because I can not see what is IN the water! To me... rivers and lakes are NASTY!

25th Wedding Anniversary

TODAY is the day! Twenty five years ago, I married the man of my dreams!! I was 20 years old and he was 22. We met on Thanksgiving of 1981 and married on April 19, 1985.

We got married in Stone Mountain Park, on the grassy area in front of the carving by a judge who was also a family friend. The wedding was small and very LOW budget! But, hey.... we are married, and that is all that matters!

I had wanted to have a bigger wedding, in a church... but, neither of us had a whole lot of money (and neither did our parents!), and the more we tried to plan a big wedding, the more headaches and problems we had. So... we scratched that idea and went with a more affordable & practical idea.

It was Hubby's idea to get married at Stone Mountain Park. It turned out to be a beautiful day, too! We did not ask permission to get married there. We just did it!! We, of course, invited our families -- which were both small, anyway -- and a few close friends. Then, we had a reception (aka: Party!) later at a club house of an apartment complex that my mom worked for. More people came to it.

It was a late night, and I was exhausted after being so sick on the days leading up to the wedding. (See yesterday's blog post on 4/18/10) I was surprised that I lasted as long as I did! I have one picture, where you can tell that I was faking the smile on my face because I was about to "fall out" from being so tired!

The past 25 years have, of course, had their ups and downs.... as most marriages do. But, I can honestly say, that there have been MANY MORE UPS than downs. The man that I married has provided me with all that I could ever want .... and more! He gave me two beautiful daughters, as well. Now, I am anxious to see what God has in store for our next 25 years!

25 Years Ago, Today.....

I was sick as a dog on the day before my wedding! Yes... on April 18, 1985.... instead of having fun and enjoying my last day of "singleness", I was in the bed with the FLU! Luckily, I was on the tail-end of my sickness, and not the beginning of it.
I don't remember much about this day, other than my mom asking me.... "Are you sure you don't want to post-pone the wedding?". Me.... "No!!! I'll be fine!" I had a high fever and could hardly move because my body felt like it had been hit by a freight train, but I was NOT missing my wedding!!
Even tho it was not a big fancy wedding, a lot had still gone into it and I didn't want to let anyone down. PLUS.... Hubby's mom and grandmother had flown down from Pennsylvania to be there. My aunt & uncle had driven up from Florida, and others had gone out of there way to make sure that they could be there.
I had really wanted to get married on April 18th because 18 is my favorite number, but... it turned out that April 18th, was a Thursday and that wouldn't work. So, I had to settle for .... Friday, April 19th.
I guess it's a good thing that we didn't get married on the 18th, because I was so sick. As it was, I STILL had to crawl out of the bed to go to my wedding! I held up well, tho.... considering.

You've probably already figured out what tomorrow's blog will be about!   **SMILE**
