This blog is basically just a collection of my "random thoughts". I must warn you, though. I have been told that "I write like I talk", so if you don't understand what you are reading... chances are, if you met me... I wouldn't make much sense to you! Feel free to comment if you care to. Or not. I'm good either way!

Is this a tease or is it real?

I'm talking about the weather.

It has has felt very much like Spring here in the South and I love it! The sun has been shining and the temperatures have been in the mid to upper 70's!

I can't help but think about that little groundhog up in Pennsylvania that did NOT see his shadow on Ground Hogs Day. According to the legend, since he did not see his shadow... this meant that Spring was/is "just around the corner" (as opposed to 6 more weeks of winter!) Tomorrow will be 4 weeks since then, and we have had beautiful weather for over a week now. So.... I am guessing that the little critter just may have been right! Hahaa!

I am not a weather "know-it-all", but I can not remember the last time that it was this warm in the middle of February!

But..... this just might be a tease, because in on March 2009, it snowed a LOT here in the south!

So... who knows!

Look at me! I don't have anything else to write about, so I am resorting to writing about the WEATHER, of all things!! Sad, huh? **Smile**

Do you feel left out, Florida??

Snow present in 49 of the 50 U.S. states

Click here to read the article to where this photo came from.

I was watching Good Morning America and heard George say that 49 out of our 50 states, here in the U.S. have snow on the ground! Even Hawaii, where I had no idea that it snowed there! WOW!

The only state that does not have snow is Florida. It made me wonder if the people of Florida -- called "Floridians" -- feel left out. I know that I have at least one blogger friend that lives in Florida. If you are reading this, Becca, I'd love to know your thoughts!

I am assuming that most of the Floridians do NOT feel left out, as I know that many of the residents of Florida moved there to ESCAPE the snow!! Some of them live in Florida for the winter only. They are called "Snowbirds". I am guessing the name came because they "fly" south for the winter! Haahaa!

Check out this adorable photo that I found when I "Googled" the word... SNOWBIRDS

Pretty cute, huh??

David grew up in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (The North). He moved to Florida to attend college there and never went back to Philly. He now hates... excuse me... LOATHES the cold weather!! Just the other day, he was complaining about it and I said... "I don't like it either but, there's nothing that we can do about it, is there?"  He came back with this response... "Yes there is! We could MOVE!"  I, of course, told him that he would then complain because it was too HOT!

The truth is... we both complain about the cold AND the hot!

I wonder if we'll someday become Snowbirds and head south. I wouldn't mind that so much. Then, I could do this.... anytime I wanted!!

Enjoy your warmth, Florida and be glad that you don't have to suffer through this cold white stuff that you are not familiar with called... SNOW!

By the way... our ice has mostly melted, but the temperature this morning is 25, with a windchill that makes it feel like it's in the teens!!! BRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!

Did someone say.... SNOW????

Here in southwest Georgia, we rarely see snow. We might see a flurry or two every now and then, but that's about it. So, when someone says that they heard that we might get some snow... you're ears can't help but perk up just a little bit!!

Yesterday, while we were on the playground with the kiddo's, one of the other teachers mentioned that she heard on the Weather Channel that there was a 30% possiblity that we might see some snow today.

Of course... I was all curious and HAD to ask her to repeat what she heard! I was thinking... SNOW! In December?? Really??? It HAS been unusually cold for this early in December. So... maybe it really IS TRUE!

My family and I watched the 5:00 local news on TV yesterday, wondering if hoping we would hear the same forcast. Of course, the weatherman did not say the words... "Okay, folks. Brace yourselves, because we are going to be getting some snow tomorrow!" No. His words were more like.... "We have a little disturbance moving in from the west tomorrow and we MIGHT see a few flurries, but chances are... we WON'T." Oh well. I kinda' knew it was too good to be true.

This morning, I turned on my computer and decided to check the weather on my MSN homepage. Here is the forcast for TODAY ---

9AM / 29° / Mostly Cloudy

Noon /36° / Rain / Snow

6PM / 38° / Snow Showers

Do you see that??? It says SNOW SHOWERS!!!!

Here's what the radar map looks like this morning. This looks like snow is coming, to me!!

I went ran to my TV and turned it on the local morning news. I was so excited and couldn't wait to hear what the weatherman said NOW!!

But... his words were practically the same as the weatherman's words last night were. DARN IT!!

I then went to The Weather Channel's website to look at the forcast. The word SNOW was nowhere to be seen on the forcast page. DARN IT, again!

You see... down here in the South, where we rarely see snow, we get VERY excited at the mere mention of snow! -- Well, some of us do, anyway! **Smile**

Tomorrow is my birthday and I would LOVE to see snow on my birthday!! What a fun birthday present that would be!

Last year, we were lucky to see a good snow of about 7 inches! --- To us, here... that is a LOT! The most I've ever seen, actually.

Here are a few photos from last year ---

Here is Ashley, Jackson and myself out in our backyard.
Poor Miranda was at work!

This is one of my very favorite photos!
Ashley & Jackson

Later, we drove to town (about 12 miles) to
pick Miranda up from work. We were afraid for
her to drive home. The roads were becoming too dangerous.

Here's a look at my house as we made it back home.

Miranda was a happy girl now!

I'm still hoping to see some today or tonight. The weathermen down here tend to "play down" the idea of snow approaching as not to get everyone's "hopes up". --- It's TOO LATE!! They're already UP!! **Smile**

Bucket List #28-30

#28 --- Go on a road trip with no predetermined destination --- I can just imagine myself (probably NOT by myself!) hoping into my car with bags packed, a wallet full of cash (or my debit card!), and a full tank of gas.... headed out onto the open road with no destination in mind. I'll just start driving (knowing me... it will be towards the coast!) and when I feel like stopping... I will! Then, if I want to spend the night... I will! And if I get up in the morning and want to drive some more... I will! Who knows where I might end up!

#29 --- Visit San Francisco and have plenty of time to see everything --- I have always wanted to go to this city! It looks so beautiful on TV and in pictures! There's the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, Fisherman's Wharf, Pier 39, Ghirardeli Square, the cable cars, Lombard Street, and.... I'm sure a bunch more!

#30 --- See a huge snow! --- I have never seen more than 7 inches of snow. Yes, I know. It's sad. But, growing up in the suburbs of Atlanta, GA and now living in West Central Georgia.... we don't see a whole lot of that pretty white stuff! I would love to go out west somewhere, like Colorado or Wyoming and see a BIG SNOW! I see myself inside of a lodge or cabin, with a huge fireplace and a BIG picture window where I can sit all day and just stare out at the beauty of it all!

Bucket List #7-9

#7 --- Spend a week (or more) at Disney World and take my time seeing everything --- I have been to Disney World many times, but have always been "rushed" thru the parks.  I want to go and take my time and see things at my own pace. Maybe have 2 days to explore each of the 4 parks. That would be wonderful!

#8 --- Spend a Christmas in a mountain cabin, as a family --- I have this "picture" in my mind of us (and maybe our extended family, too!) renting a cabin up in the mountains and spending Christmas there. The cabin would have a huge fireplace and we would bring our own Christmas tree. We wouldn't bring any decorations for the tree, but would bring supplies to MAKE our own decorations once we got there. (Guess that means that we would need to arrive a few days before Christmas!) We would have fun playing board games and cards. We would take walks in the woods and maybe even have a campfire outside. We David would cook a yummy meal for Christmas Day! Of course, if it snowed on Christmas Eve, then that would be awesome!!

#9 --- Visit New York City and have plenty of time to see everything --- New York City would be another place that you wouldn't want to be "rushed" to see! (Well, actually.... I wouldn't want to be rushed on any vacation!) I have never been to New York City. I would love to see Central Park, the Statue of Liberty, Times Square, and Ground Zero. I would also love to see at least one Broadway play. I think it would also be fun to visit one of the morning news shows, like Good Morning America.
