I read a "status update" on Facebook last night that was posted by our local news station, here in Columbus.
This is what it said -----
There is talk on the net that internet giants like Google, Yahoo! and Facebook would go dark for a day – shut down - to protest anti-internet piracy legislation that is before Congress. How would your life be affected if these companies shut you out for a day? Do you think it will make backers of the legislation think twice?
Here is the link to read the article that was posted with it --- LINK.
I'll be honest. I did not read the whole article, but let's get back to the question that the news station asked --- "How would your life be affected if these companies shut you out for a day?"
My thoughts are.... BRING IT ON!!! I can handle it!
I know that I rely on my "social interaction" on the computer waaaaayyyy more than I should, but I know for a fact that I would be just fine without it for a day. Now.... a week?? Then, we would have a problem! ~ LOL!
And as far as Google goes.... it is not a site that I use everyday, anyway! So.... I'm good.
What are your thoughts???
This blog is basically just a collection of my "random thoughts". I must warn you, though. I have been told that "I write like I talk", so if you don't understand what you are reading... chances are, if you met me... I wouldn't make much sense to you! Feel free to comment if you care to. Or not. I'm good either way!

The Kindle
Update ---- Ashley made it home fine, yesterday! Thank you for your sweet thoughts and prayers!
Thank you also for your sweet comments, once again! I am so thankful for all of you!!
The Amazon Kindle --- David gave me one of these for Christmas this year.

The Amazon Kindle --- David gave me one of these for Christmas this year.
Before I tell you whether or not I like it, let me fill you in on how I feel about books.
I LOVE BOOKS!! I have almost a whole wall of books in my office/craft room! I have a hard time parting with them, even after I have read them. Books give me such a great feeling of "accomplishment" after I have read them. How can I throw or give away books that I enjoyed reading so much??
Here are a few photos of my wall of bookshelves. These were taken a few years ago... but, you'll get the idea!
I took this photo (and the next) as "before" shots of my very messy shelves, before I did a clean-up on them! -- Sadly, these shelves are back to being just a little messy! Oops!
Here are the "after" shots of a much more organized space!
By the way..... Ashley painted that beautiful ocean scene and the red & black platter was painted by my mother! The other picture was done by a lady that I used to work for.
I love to look at books, as well. I love the ones with pretty pictures and I am instantly attracted to books with bright or interesting covers! -- You'll have a hard time getting me out of a book store!!
I love to read all sorts of books. I love Mysteries, Christian Fiction, Historical Fiction, Romantic Comedies, "Heavy" Romance (if you know what I mean! *Smile*) and I even love non-fiction books. One of my favorites is "The Journey" by Billy Graham.
Anyway.... For a couple of years now, I have been checking out the "e-readers" -- such as The Nook & The Kindle. I really liked the idea of them, but I couldn't get past the thought of not actually "owning" the book!
As Christmas rolled around -- Once again, as it seems to do every few months!! -- this year, I started talking about them again and wondering about them. I guess David decided to make the decision for me and get me one! Haha!
I'm still getting used to using my Kindle, but I'm starting to REALLY like it!! It's so light weight and can hold SO MANY BOOKS!!! I have to admit, tho, that I will miss buying actual "books" to read, but... at least this way..... my shelves might stay neat! ** Smile**

Sharp Knives & Letting Go
Sorry for the delay in writing. I got really lazy yesterday and didn't make it back to my computer! Ha!
I do want to thank all of you --- my special "bloggy" friends (smile) --- for your sweet words regarding missing me. Your words warmed my heart!
It still feels strange to be writing again, but here goes my attempt at it! Bare with me as I blurt out random things!! Ha!
Sharp Knives --- Be careful with them as you wash them in your sink!! They get angry with you for no reason and jump out and CUT YOU!! The next thing you know... you are being driven to the doctor -- with NO make-up on and no shower, I might add!! -- by your daughter, while you hold a washcloth around your finger because it won't stop bleeding!!!
Yes. This is what happened to me last Wednesday!
Here is the result of my visit to the doctor ---
Since then, he's been begging Ashley to drive up to where he lives and "hang out". THIS is where the "letting go" part comes in! --- Neither one of my girls has ever driven in (or thru) the big and BUSY city of Atlanta!! The small town that we live in doesn't come close to comparing to Atlanta.... especially when you are talking about DRIVING!
The other part of "letting go", was letting her SPEND THE NIGHT up there (at his house!!!!) so that they could go to dinner and have more time together! WHAT WAS I THINKING WHEN I SAID SHE COULD GO???
Part of me is kicking myself, but part of me knows that she is 24 years old and is an adult. Letting go is not easy, but deep down... I know that it is necessary. I have just been praying for her safety and that she makes the RIGHT CHOICES while she is up there.
You may be wondering.... "What does David think about all of this??" Well, his first concern was for her safety, driving in Atlanta. As for the rest.... I think he had to just put blinders on and "let her go".
If you read this before 11:00am EST ... please say a prayer for her safety, as she drives home. Thank you!

5 STITCHES!!!!
Ya. That was NOT fun!! But, I was very thankful that Miranda was there with me. If it had been Ashley.... I would have been driving HER to the doctor!
Sooooo....... typing on my computer is rather difficult right now. My finger is bandaged and I have a splint on it. I go back on Friday to get the stitches removed. Until then, I am not supposed to bend it or get it wet. So, ya. Showering is a lot of fun!-- NOT!
Letting Go -- For those of you that have adult children.... was it hard to let them "go" and do "adult" things for the first time?? I experienced this with my Ashley yesterday. She has recently reconnected with a guy that she knew several years ago, when she attended her Junior College. This guy lives on the north side of Atlanta (100 miles away). They saw each other for the first time, since college, a few weeks ago. They both drove and met for dinner halfway between here and Atlanta. Then, a week ago (the day before the knife jumped up and cut me!!), the girls and I met him for lunch when we drove up to Atlanta to go to the art museum. I enjoyed meeting him very much and he seems like a very nice guy.

I can't believe that it is now 2012!! It seems like yesterday that the world was "freaking out" about the year 2000!! Crazy!!
I have several things in which to write about, --- YES, I actually plan to write!!! Haha! -- but I am limited on time at the moment. Please be patient with me and I will write soon!

Not sure.
Hello my friends.
I know that it has been a long time.
I have been in a writer's FUNK for quite some time now and I'm not sure that I am going to continue keeping a blog. For a while, I was thinking.... "I'll start writing again in 2012." But, now... I'm not so sure.
I'm going to keep thinking on it and get back to you on my decision.
Hope you all are doing well!
Blessings ~

Random Thoughts
I appreciate those of you that were so sweet and made me feel better about not posting on a daily basis. Thank you!! My life has been rather busy with so much going on!!!
I thought I would share some RANDOM THOUGHTS going thru my mind right now.
~~ I just finished baking cookies for our Market Day at church. I didn't get fancy. I just used the cookie dough that you buy from the grocery store. I thought "briefly" about making some from scratch.... but... that would require more of my time and right now... time is not something that I have a lot of!
~~ Market Day is on Saturday. I am a bit sad because I won't be able to participate in it -- other than baking cookies for it! (Check below for the "Random Thought" on why I will not be able to participate.) Market Day is a fundraiser for our Missions Team. I am sad that I can't be there because last year I fell IN LOVE with the jewelry that my pastor's sister sells!!! (Check out her website at... http://www.mysouthernfunk.com/ The website only has a small assortment of her items, unfortunately. There are SO MANY MORE that she actually as with her at her sales booth!) I bought quite a few items and I wear them ALL THE TIME! There were many other booths at Market Day last year, but I kept finding myself back at the jewelry one!
~~ I won't be able toshop participate in Market Day because David and I are leaving on Friday to drive to my friend's house in Atlanta. We will be on his MOTORCYCLE! We will spend the night at my friends house, and then on Saturday.... we are trailering our motorcycle and my friend's husband's motorcycle up to the mountains of North Georgia so that we can ride thru the mountains. We are staying at my friend's husband's boss's cabin overnight on Saturday. We'll come home on Sunday. I am VERY thankful that I have the day off on Monday!! **Smile**
~~ I am trying hard to get my business started with Initials, Inc. - Here's my website: www.myinitials-inc.com/beckybauers/ - I haven't had anyone purchase anything yet, but I have two parties booked for this month, and I have two people that are trying to get enough orders for a Catalog Party. I also decided to have an "Open House" at my house on Saturday, October 15th so that people can stop by and take a look at the products that I have and learn a little bit about the company. We'll see how that goes. The products are super cute!! And ALL personalization is FREE!!! A lot of other campanies charge extra for personalization.
~~ I've been trying to hit the gym 3x a week. I didn't make it there last week. It was a ROUGH WEEK! I have not seen a lot of difference in the number on the scale, but my clothes are fitting a little better, so "something" is working!! YAY!! One thing that I know is different is that I don't really have time to eat lunch. I have been eating things like... yogurt, an apple, or a protein bar. I'm just glad that I am seeing something positive happening!!
~~ Work is going "ok". The young mom that I work with and I are FINALLY starting to communicate better, which is making working with her a whole lot easier! The first two months were quite the challenge, but this week is going much better and I'm so thankful.
~~ David bought me a hitch and bike rack for my car so that I can be more "mobile" with my bike. I took it to the bike trail, in town, last Saturday and rode 8 miles all by myself! I LOVED IT! I can't wait until I can go again!
~~ Miranda started "clinicals" last week for her nursing school. She had her first experience working with REAL people!! She was so scared and nervous, but came home loving it and couldn't wait to go back again! YAY!! She goes back tomorrow. She is on the cardiac floor of the hospital. I am so proud of her!!
~~ Ashley's friend, Kyle, that she has become very good friends with, went on a bicycle trip this past weekend. It was to raise money for needy children. He had to ride (with a group) from Columbus to Savannah, GA which is about 300 miles!! This was his first long-distance bike trip and he was very excited about it!! Unfortunately, on the last leg of the trip, he had to drop out. He thinks he tore something in his knee. I haven't talked to her since he has been home. I pray that it isn't serious.
~~ My young friend, Chris, who's picture is posted to the right, here on my blog... will be coming home in December! YAY!! The sad part is... his one and only brother is overseas now, as well. His name is Ryan. I need to find a picture of him and post it so that you all can say a prayer for him every time you see his picture. I will work on that! Hopefully, Ryan (the older brother) will only be over there until March. Needless to say.... my friends (their parents) are having a tough time since BOTH of their children are overseas, in harms way. Please keep them in your prayers, as well.
~~ I started attending a Bible Study at my Pastor's house on Sunday Evenings. I am enjoying it very much! The Bible Study that we are doing will take us thru the entire Bible. I am enjoying the discussions that we are having as we go along.
I know that there is a lot more on my mind right now, but I will stop here for now.
Hope you all are having a wonderful week!!!
