This blog is basically just a collection of my "random thoughts". I must warn you, though. I have been told that "I write like I talk", so if you don't understand what you are reading... chances are, if you met me... I wouldn't make much sense to you! Feel free to comment if you care to. Or not. I'm good either way!

Hi friends.

I have honestly been trying to write a post for DAYS now!! In fact... I have it saved in my "drafts". I keep going to every few days and adding to it, but I just can't seem to finish it. I promise to... soon!

I've started a new adventure that I am anxious to tell you about!

I am now a Creative Partner with Initials, Inc.!!!

This company is a Georgia based (YAY!), premier personalized handbag and accessories company in the Direct Selling Industry and is consistently experiencing phenomenal growth in both sales and recruiting. --- Ok. I confess. These aren't my words. I got them from the company website. **Smile**

There has always been a part of me that has wished to be an entrepreneur and be my own boss. When we lived in Atlanta, I had a fairly successful Pet Sitting business. I chose not to pursue it when we moved to Columbus. I kinda' wish I had, tho! Oh well.

Through the years, I have been an Avon Representative (a couple of times!) and I have also tried my hand at a scrap-booking business called.. "Scrap-n-a-Snap". I had a lot of fun with it, but had to end it when my mom had her stroke back in 2005.

Lately, I have felt the "bug" biting me to get back into some type of business of my own. I started searching different "direct sales" companies and by accident.... I came across this article in Women's Day magazine. (Check it out by clicking the link.) I know that "personalized" items are VERY POPULAR right now, as well as handbags and purses are. So, I decided that THIS would be my business of choice!

I just joined a week ago and I am SO EXCITED!! I have my first party booked for the end of October and I am anxious to get a few more booked before then!!

I even have my own website!! Check it out at...

And... just so you know..... **smile**...... if you see something that you like.... you can order straight from my website! The best part is that monogramming is TOTALLY FREE!!! (up to 14 letters)

Anyway.... This is what has been occupying my mind for the last couple of weeks!! I'll keep you updated!

I'm Still Here!

No. I haven't been a very good blogger lately. I apologize for that. I need to find a way to get blogging back into my routine!

I work 5 days a week now... 8:30 to 1:30. But, I leave my house at 8:00 and don't get home until nearly 4:00 most days.... so.... really.... I am gone pretty much ALL DAY!

I have been going to the gym on Mon, Wed, & Friday's after work. I go to see my mom on Tuesday's after work. On Thursdays, I go to see my Care Receiver. So, you can see that my week is FULL!

I am now attending a Bible Study on Sunday evenings, and of course.... I have church on Sunday mornings.

Twice a month, on Thursday evenings.... I have my Stephen Ministry meetings.

On top of all of this.... I am trying to keep on top of my household chores, spend time with David and my girls, and also make time for what few friends that I have.

You can see why Blogging has kinda' been put on the back burner right now!

On the list of things to do today --------

At work: I am teaching today while the teacher that I assist, does "assessments" with the children.

After work: I will call my CR and see if she is feeling well enough for me to visit her. (She was in the hospital earlier this week.) If she is... then, I will go to see her.

After seeing her: I have to go to the grocery store and buy the ingredients for a pasta salad that I am bringing to work tomorrow for "Fun Friday". -- Once a month, all of the teachers take turns providing a meal for the rest of the teachers. I am on the list for tomorrow, along with several others. The theme is "Italian".

Then... I get to come home!

Oh ya!! Today is PAY DAY, too!!! So, I will need to go to the bank. **Smile**

My Vacation from A to Z -- (R)

Yep.... we skipped "Q". LOL!

R is for Rental Car

Miranda and I realllllly wanted an SUV for our rental car, just for fun. But, we went the economical route and opted for a sedan that got great gas mileage!! It was a Mitsubishi Galant.

R is for River

This is the Delaware River at sunrise. It separates Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

R is for Row Homes

This is the street where David's mom grew up. The houses are EXACTLY alike!! The are one long row of homes!! In order to get to the back of the house, you either have to go thru the house or walk (or drive) around the whole block and then up the alley to get to there!!

Parking on the street is a MUST in a neighborhood like this!

This is the home that David's mom grew up in. I was there only once, right after David and I met.

R is for Radio City Music Hall

This is where the famous "Rockettes" do thier Christmas performance in NYC.

Wednesday Hodgepodge

I am trying something new that I saw on my bloggy friend, Claudia's Blog called "The Story". It's called "Wednesday Hodgepodge". She picked it up from another bloggy friend, Joyce's Blog called "From This Side of the Pond". I thought it might be fun! Hope you do, too!

1. What is one piece of advice you would give a 'just-turning' 21 year old adult?

This is an interesting question since I have a daughter that will turn 21 in May and her boyfriend of 3 years, will be turning 21 in just a couple of weeks! My advice would be.... just because you are now "of age", it doesn't mean that you HAVE TO "DRINK". Some young people look forward to the day that they can "legally" drink. Some parents... believe it or not!... encourage this idea by buying their "babies" their first "legal" drink of alcohol. I am not a fan of this idea.

2. Besides cooler weather (or warmer weather, depending on your hemisphere) what is one thing you are looking forward to this fall?

Oh! Fall is my favorite time of the year! I look foward to camping with my friends and family... warm campfires to hang by on a chilly evening... Fall decorating... wearing my blue jeans & boots... riding my bike... motorcycle rides with David...  wearing jackets... the colors of the leaves.... the list goes on and on!

3. What sound lulls you to sleep?

I can not sleep in silence! LOL! So, I have to have some type of "noise"! In the summer... we have a small airconditioner that is in our bedroom window. The noise of it helps me sleep. In the winter... we have a small heater that we use, and the sound of it helps me sleep.

4. September is National Preparedness Month...does your family have an emergency 'kit' and/or disaster plan in place?

I had no idea about this! LOL!! Being that my kids are no longer "little"... we don't really have an emergency kit or disaster plan. The only thing my kids were taught was that if the house caught fire... they were to go to the mailbox. That was our "meeting place". They have also been taught that if there is a tornado warning... they are to go to a "center" room of the house or a basement. Our house in Atlanta had a basement. Our house now.... has neither a center room OR a basement! I PANIC when there is a threat of a tornado! We have no place to hide!!

5. How has your blog changed since you started blogging? Or has it?

Hmmmm... yes, I guess it has. In the beginning... I tried to just write about crazy thoughts that went thru my mind. I also tried not to mention the names of my family members. Now.... you all know me and my family quite well!! LOL!! I tend to write about more personal things than I when I first started.

6. What's something you've recently learned to do on the computer?

Ummm.....  I don't know. Maybe learn to navigate the "new" blogger site?

7. Is a picture worth a thousand words? Elaborate.

One of my very favorite photos.

8. Insert your own random thought here.

I am missing Ashley, my oldest daughter. She seems so far away from me, even tho she is so close. I miss the "friendship" that we used to have. I want to be part of her life and I wish that she would talk to me like she used to.

My Vacation from A to Z --- (P) continued

I am not sure why my post did not "save" before, when I was writing about my "P" words, but oh well! Here's the rest of the list!

This is the professional baseball team in Philadelphia. Right now, they are the #1 team in the nation for Major League Baseball. While we were in Philadelphia, we saw so many people wearing Phillies t-shirts!! This annoyed Miranda to no end!! She is a huge Atlanta Braves fan -- she even wore her Braves shirt one morning, while we were there! (You'll see in an upcoming pic!) Even David's mother is a HUGE Phillies fan! So, we had to suffer thru watching a game with her! LOL
Another food that Philadelphia is famous for is their Soft Pretzels!! They are SO YUMMY!! David's mom even had some for us when we arrived at her house!! But... we also went to the Pretzel Factory.. not once.... but twice!! .... to get MORE of them!! It's a good thing that we can't get these down in Georgia! I would be in trouble!! LOL!

Here's Miranda about to devour 24 yummy pretzels!!! LOL!! -- Check out her Braves shirt!

One of the places that I wanted to see while we were in NYC was the famous Plaza Hotel. I remember it well from the movie "Home Alone, Lost in New York". I'm sure that other movies have been made there as well, but this is the one that I know of the most. I just wanted to walk into that enormous lobby that Kevin walked thru, in the movie!

The lobby was HUGE!!! I never did see the front desk!

P is for Parking

We quickly learned that parking in big cities isn't too easy! In Atlantic City, we found a parking lot with no problem. It was also reasonably priced. In downtown Philly, we had a hard time finding a place to park! We finally found a place on the street and we dumped money into the meter. When we went to Pat's Steaks, we parked two blocks away at the CVS! Hey... it was free!

In Washington DC, we asked a police officer where we could park and he told us that parking was free on government streets, but when we found parking on the streets... there were signs that were posted that confused us about the cost and the time limit, so we were afraid to park there. (Later... we saw that same cop putting tickets on cars parked on the street!! YIKES!! Was he trying to set us up?) We ended up finding a parking garage and parked there. Although, we had trouble "finding" our car when we returned! And then, once we found our car.... we had trouble finding our way OUT of the parking garage!! It was crazy!!

In NYC, we wanted to ride the Staten Island Ferry first, so we had to find parking for it. We "thought" that there would be a parking lot for it, but nope.... there wasn't. We had to ask someone where to park. They directed us to a parking garage where we had to pay WAY more than we had planned to!! Then, the only parking for our hotel was "valet parking" which cost us more than we have EVER paid to park ANYWHERE!! ~ WOW!!!

Thrifty Finds

My best friend, Diana, came down my way for the day on Saturday. She loves the "art" of of thrifting as much as I do, so I knew that we would have fun!

I told Diana that I was on the hunt for Tablescaping items for September and October.

For September, I had the idea of a "Football" theme -- See this post for my inspiration.

For October, I had the idea of a "Halloween" theme -- Again, see this post for my inspiration.

I totally forgot to take pictures as we were hunting for treasures!!! So, I took pictures of my items after I got home.

Ever since I redecorated (sort of) my living room, I have needed something for the wall between my window and my entertainment center. I had the idea of buying two vertical plate racks that might hold two or three plates each. I hadn't found exactly what I was looking for, until.... I found THIS plate rack!! It is a double plate rack!! I just knew it would be perfect for the wall space that I had, and it is! --- Price paid: $12.99!

Diana and I searched for the perfect size plates for my new plate rack, but only found these two. They are "dessert size" plates, I believe. The yellow one is just a simple design. --- Price paid: $.85! The red one is a unique "flower" design. I can tell that it came from Target. --- Price paid: $3.50. (a little more than I would have wanted to pay, but I really liked it!

See how the "curves" in the plate rack go so well with my curtain rod! I also have those same curves in my lamps and other things in my house.

I also found this Eitenne Aigner handbag!! It looks like it is real, but I am not positive that it is. -- If any of you know how to tell... please let me know! From what I have read about them online, I think that it is! This one is in PERFECT condition!! -- Price paid: $9.95!!! (They seem to be over $100, if bought new!!)

I found this Vera Bradley Curling Iron Cover, too!! I've been wanting one for a while now. In fact... I was wishing that I had one of these on our recent vacation! -- Price paid: $6.00!! - (They retail for about $20.00!)

I found these cute Halloween Decorations that will look great on a
Halloween Table!
Prices paid:
Ghost tea-light candle holder -- $1.10
Pumpkin tea-light candle holder -- $.50
Big Pumpkin -- $1.00

I wasn't totally sold on these cute Halloween Plates because of the "purple" color, but decided to get them anyway since they were so cheap! -- Price paid: $1.88 for all four!

I really liked these cool haystacks (at least I think that's what the are!). They will go great for a Fall Tablescape!! -- Price paid: $1.75 each!

I am going to keep looking for Football related items for my Football Tablescape. If I can't find anything soon, I'll have to think of another idea!

I'm linking up to Linda's "Nifty Thrifty Tuesday" party over at her blog

Be sure and check out her wonderful blog and the neat things that her followers have found on their thrifting adventures!

Excitement With a Cold

I am excited this morning, but also feeling a bit "run down". My very best friend, Diana, is coming down from Atlanta this morning to spend the day with me. I am excited about taking her to my favorite Thrift Shops!! I haven't been thrifting since my other good friend, Georgia, came to visit me.

I don't have anything specific that I am looking for, but I would like to look for some things for my "September" or "October" tablescapes. I have no idea what I want to do for September!! Miranda suggested a "Football" theme. I really like that idea, but finding stuff for it might present a challenge. October will be easy! I want to do a "Halloween" themed table with orange, black & yellow. I should have a few things for it already, but I will be on the lookout for more today.

I don't feel 100% today. Yesterday, as the day went on, I began to feel like I was getting a head cold. NOT FUN!! I did not sleep well last night -- I should have bought the Nyquil that I thought about buying! -- I'll get some for tonight! -- But, a head cold will NOT stop me from spending the day thrifting with Diana!!

I Googled "football tablescapes" and found Lori's blog A Big Story with her WONDERFUL football tablescape!! Here are a few pics from her blog.....

She has some GREAT plates and accessories, doesn't she?? I love it!!

I'm in love with Susan's Halloween Tablescape over at ... Between Naps on the Porch!! Take a look at a few pics from her blog....

Susan's tablescape is EXACTLY what I have in mind for my table!! Hopefully, I can find some great "goodies" today while I am out THRIFTING!!

Happy Saturday!!

August Tablescape

Yes!! I know that I am a bit late. I was hoping to add to this tablescape, but never got around to it! Oops!! Soo... here is what my table has looked like for the whole month of August. Forgive me for the pictures not looking so good. I was in a hurry this morning! The lighting is bad. I know. I am linking to Between Naps on the Porch for Tablescape Thursday. (Yes. I am late for it, too!!)

I picked up most of these items at a thrift store in Columbus, GA called... "Joey's". The coral dishes, the tablecloth, the heart dishes, and the little green sherbert bowls were all bought on the same day. The crystal plates and green glasses were/are my mother's. The candlesticks were bought at Joey's too. I never did get any candles for them! Oops!

I stole borrowed this pretty flower from Ashley's room. It matched my color scheme perfectly!!

Couldn't resist these cute little dishes! Too bad they only had four.

But.... there were only 4 of these coral colored plates, anyway. So, it worked out.

I fell in LOVE with these little green sherbert bowls!!!! They came in a set of 6. So pretty!!

I picked up this "tablecloth" in a booth for only a $1.
I was having fun finding dishes to go with it!

Hmmm...... who is that over there stealing the spotlight from my picture??
That's Chester, my crazy 1 year old puppy!! **Smile**

My Vacation From A to Z --- (O and P)

O is for ORGAN

David's mom has been an organist for her church, as long as David can remember. I believe that she can play the piano, as well. This was the first time that my girls got to see their Grandma play the organ at church. It was a real treat!

David was born and raised in Philadelphia. It seems that his whole family was!! It's funny... but, when I was little and would watch The Miss America pageant on TV, I would always root for three states... Georgia (of course), Texas, and Pennsylvania. I have no idea WHY I picked the other two states, but for whatever reason... I did. I just think that it's funny that I married a guy from Pennsylvania!! Also.... as a young teenager, one of my very favorite songs was "Philadelphia Freedom" by Elton John! I honestly never dreamed I would meet a guy (and MARRY him!!!) from Philadelphia!! Was God trying to tell me something??? Hmmm....

P is for PIZZA

It's funny... we had pizza in almost every state that we visited!! LOL!

We had pizza at a little place on the Atlantic City boardwalk. You can see the place just to the right, in this picture.

We had pizza in Philadelphia with David's mom. It's was funny.... she was a "celebrity" when we walked in!! They all knew her!! LOL!! -- THIS pizza was my favorite!!!

David and the girls waiting. I love this picture of Ashley! I should crop it and save it! Miranda was saying.... "Mom. Come on! Are you really taking my picture in a pizza place???"  LOL!! YES!

We also had pizza in NYC. We had seen this place on one of the Food Channel TV shows! The pizza was "ok". I liked the date. It's been around as long as I have! **Smile**

Philadelphia is known for it's "Philly Cheese Steaks". There are two places in Philly that claim that they have the original sandwich. "Pat's Steaks" is one, and "Geno's" is the other. David's family has always favored "Pat's". One of our destinations, while in Philly, was to go to Pat's Steaks and get a Cheese Steak sandwich. The girls had never been.

We FINALLY found a place to park... two blocks away! The line to order a sandwich, was wrapped around the building!!!

I took this picture as we stood in line. There's Gino's across the street.

This sign was posted between the two places!! LOL!!

Directions on "how" to order!

The wall of famous people that have eaten at Pat's Steaks.

We made David order. We were afraid that we would say it wrong and have to go to the end of the line!! LOL!!

Miranda couldn't handle her cheese and ended up with it on her new shirt! Oops!

Ashley was a happy girl!

This is the professional baseball team in Philadelphia.

(OOPS! My post ended up getting posted before I finished it. Sorry about that! I'm going to take a break right now. I'll finish it soon!)
